An Interview to Argy Echosense
A few words
Asimilon is the solo project of Richie Elmes, one half of renowned psychedelic trance act Psymmetrix. He is part of Big Scary Monsters and A.R.T Conspiracy. He has been writing and performing music and DJing mostly
psychedelic trance since 1996 and uses his experience of international dancefloors to good effect.
Asimilon… Why you chose this name?
It was a word that I made up when I made my first track back in 1997 and I couldn't think up a project name! It was such a long time ago but I think I just opened up a dictionary, first word I saw was Assimilate and I used that. It turns out that it's a conjugation of that word in Esperanto... maybe 'we have been assimilated' (into my twisted version of PsyTrance)?
Tell us a few words about “Bom shanka”.
The idea for Bom Shanka Music was sparked on the dance floor at Eclipse '06 in Turkey by Al (Psymmetrix/Dirty Saffi) & Stu (DJ S.T.U.) to put more of the underground sound available on CD. By 2007 we (Stu, Al & I) had invested some Euros on 9 killer tracks and top notch mastering for our 1stcompilation (The Solution) and the rest is history.
Could you give a title for your music?
Kind of tricky to categorise an art form that is beyond words, but I suppose you could call it “Night time music for people who like to smile”.
What about the Psymmetrix project
Al & I were living in a infamous squat in Kent, UK together and for NYE '04/'05 we had blagged our way onto a line up to do a “versus” set when we realised our music was just too different to play back-to-back, so we spent December '04 frantically writing a new live set that we christened “Psymmetrix” (based on Symmetry since we are both Yellow Star in Mayan Calendar & Geminis in Astrology).
Your opinion for Athens crew?
Our experience has always been 100% professional but also most importantly super fun with the Athens crew!
What do you like most in Greece?
Almost everything! Weather, Food, People.

Next music plans?
Keep an eye out for all the releases we have coming out in the coming months, a new compilation from Glenn Logic in December, Dirty Saffi's début album, EPs from Asimilon, Psymmetrix, Big Scary Monsters and another compilation from S.T.U. early next year.
